Focus and Features

Much of today’s enterprise data is stored using Database Management System (DBMS) technology. As good as DBMS controls may be, however, they are frequently disabled or specified inappropriately. In this comprehensive three-day seminar you will explore the typical controls available with some of the current popular products, and learn how to determine if those controls are in place. You will explore the ISO/ANSI standards that apply to all relational DBMS products, as well as some of the specific controls available from Microsoft (SQL Server), Sybase, IBM (DB2) and Oracle Corporation (MySQL).  You will examine environment and data access controls, integrity features, change controls, availability components, and accounting audit trail capabilities. You will learn how to assess controls evidence from the DBMS’ own inventories of objects and parameter files. You will cover how DBMSs impact the organization and segregation of duties, as well as how they may affect regulatory compliance.

You will benefit from examples of evidence from all four covered products and receive a sample audit program and DBA interview questionnaire you can use to customize your own DBMS assessment.
